hudzel
written by danclark , October 13, 2009
You know this smells like another example of Rachel Hudzel abusin her authority. At this point everyone is aware of the incident in 2004 when she used her position to help her nephew out of a DUI, but it goes much farther than that. Most probably don't remember that immediately after this incident Judge Powers ask for her resignation. Shortly thereafter he was thrashed and charged with multiple felonies. His charges were made to sound as though he was misusing government funds. He was actually have relations with a county employee in his chambers. Wrong definately, but did that warrant multiple felony charges. At least in my opinion it did not. You also don't don't have far to look to find the unbelievably lightly handled DUI case of Judge Heath. This Judge was frankly very friendly toward the prosecutors office. The James Barton case. WOW. Does anyone really believe the testimony of Gary Phelps. If so check your facts. Lastly my case. I was indicted in Oct. 2007 for serving court approved paperwork with a court approved process server. Oh yeah my trumped up charges would have carried a maximum sentence of 9 yrs. The people of Warren County only have themselves to blame. It's time we did something about it. Ryan is a victim of Rachel Hudzel's need to self promote at anyone's expense. Whe really doesn't care if he is inocent or guilty. His persecution and prosecution is simply a vehicle for her to self promote. Period....

I saw your story too on Dateline and am heartbroken for all involved. From a young bride that lost her life to a young man who has everything to look forward to! The families on both sides that are affected and the friends that are mourning....My heart goes out to everyone.

I am an ER Nurse of 20 years and things seemed to be in your favor from the get go. Why you were not given more assistance over the phone with your 911 call and I thought the information you shared was not unusual in the least bit with the 911 call center when the prosecution was questioning it? I happen to be a very detailed person myself and communicate too much at times with others. So, I did not find that to be alarming. I think investigators read into things when they have no other information to go on and need to wrap it up so to speak. Obviously, I am not a cop or detective but I am never impresssed with Law inforcement to that degree either. They usually have their own skeletons to deal with... I HOPE and PRAY for YOU and will FOLLOW you on your site here to see what happens. I hope you can stay near your family. Close to your wonderful MOTHER!! I have 4 boys myself and I cannot imagine RYAN....I hope there are many bright days ahead for you in your near future!! Love & God Bless, Jaye report abuse

This is why I think Ryan is innocent
written by Mom4ever , September 20, 2009
Ryan stated on the phone the water was draining right now..........by the time paramedics arrived...she was dry, most likely because she took a hot bath. When you take a hot bath your hot skin will dry you up fast....After a hot shower I sometimes do not need to use a towel to get dry. It also stated that the hair was damp by the time paramedics arrived. It should have been soaked as she was face down in the tub, but with time passed, it got damp.

Ryan's reaction when the guilty verdict was read did not match with a guilty person. A guilty person usually stays there stunned, like in agreement.........Ryan was crushed and made a sincere, honest statement to the judge upon request. He did not say I loved her like something in the past. He said I love her, she is my wife, I would not hurt her. I 100% believe him. I think the judge did too, but he had to go with the jury, no choice. But maybe he is the one who found a way to overturn the verdict, because he felt responsible of charging an innocent? I hope for a 2nd trial of NOT GUILTY. I have not seen anything to convince me of other. He checked on her because he knew her habit of falling asleep, just too late this time.......Sorry for your loss and grief Ryan and family. report abuse

Hey. I'm Amanda. I'm 24 and from Pa. I just saw the show about Ryan on 20/20 last night. I just wanted to show you some support. There are alot of People that are not willing to share that. I am 100% on you're side. If I had the ability to help as much as you needed. But financially I cant. I know that when you need support, it feels so much better to know that there are people who care, pay attention, and are willing to let you know that. Well, I hope to hear good things!! If you ever need someone to vent to, I'm willing to listen!! Email me anytime.

The 911 Call
written by pcfloyd , September 18, 2009
I've listened to the 911 call over and over; did it not come out in the trial that Ryan told the operator that he had drained the tub and had been giving Sarah CPR before he even called 911. That's why there was no water on the floor and that she wasn't as wet as they thought she should have been. He told the operator she was still in the bath tub yes, but he had already drained it before he made the call. The jurors apparently didn't consider the fact that since the tub had been drained while she was still in it that she had plenty of time to dry before the parametics arrived. It seems they convicted him based on the fact that there wasn't water everywhere and that Sarah wasn't wet enough to just have gotten out of the tub. I couldn't believe how dumb the juror that was interviewed was. I would hate to know that the outcome of my life depended on dumbasses like that. I pray God will help Ryan through this difficult time and the truth will set him free.

Free Ryan
written by Blondie , September 18, 2009
Ryan needs a good defense lawyer who is aware of all the neurological diseases that could have caused his wife's death. I am a retired R.N. and there is definitely a condition where she could have falled asleep. I have seen this happen in our Psychiatric unit. I too wash my hair in the bathtub and do not take a shower at times, especially if I am coloring my hair. These jurors are not intelligent enough to be aware of these conditions.. LISTEN to his friends who knows his wife falls aleep on a dime. This condition can be taken care of with medication but evidently they were not aware of it. Its like going to the doctor and you know more than the doctor does. A jury of your peers is scary. FREE RYAN. Thank you. I believe his wife had narcolepsy.

Welcome Home Ryan

I am completely amazed how a jury even found you guilty. I just had the opportunity to watch the Dateline program tonight and I was blown away. Ryan you will not only have Ohio residents behind you, but the entire US thanks to Dateline. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. You have an awesome mom there too!!!

I just saw the Dateline. I watch Dateline a lot and 99% of the time I believe the person on trial is guilty. I am convinced the jury made a big mistake in this case. They convicted becuase of the way he sounded on the 911 call and that there was no water on the floor??? That is not nearly enough evidence to convict. My heart goes out to Ryan.

Dateline
written by ohiotodd , September 18, 2009
I am the first of what I am sure are going to be hundreds of comments on this story. I have to say I was on the fence at the end of the broadcast. But now... after listening to the full 911 call, I do not see how ANY juror could have found Ryan guilty or could have believed the 911 operator when he said Ryan was calm. In the call he is clearly distraught and in a panic. The 911 operator did nothing to assist Ryan. The first thing is to start CPR immediately! He did not do that. He was more interested in getting details entered into his computer. He even had Ryan unlock the doors before starting CPR. What a bozo. I hope and pray that the 2nd jury sees the truth. My heart dropped when the guilty verdict was read. I was so glad to see that the verdict was thrown out and there will be a second trial. The only thing that troubled me, though, was that I think in the same situation my first instinct would be to have taken her out of the bathtub. And Ryan said he had been doing CPR but I don't see how you could in a bathtub. I don't know, maybe it is a bigger bathtub than I am used to. But I still 100% support Ryan and pray he will be found innocent so he can finally grieve for his loss in peace. God bless.

It's so good to see Ryan in an environment he deserves to be in... Mark Godsey and company are still my heros! Hoping Ryan is settled in and things are calmed down a bit. We wanted to give you all a chance to settle in and relax but The Dornbusch's are EAGER to squeeze and hug the sh*t out of you all!

I, too, am so happy to see Ryan home and smiling. Everything was dragging so slowly I'm sure it was making the Widmer family weary with the waiting. I thought of Ryan last night and first thing this morning, happy that he was home sleeping in his own bed and eating some good food.
